Carroll Valley Police Officer Receives Commendation

3/25/2010 | dave

Detective Clifford J. Weikert of the Carroll Valley Borough Police Department was dispatched on January 8, 2010 to respond to a report of two individuals attempting to break into vehicles in the J-Section.  He arrived in the area within a short period of time and was able to locate one of the suspects on Sunshine Trail and a foot pursuit ensued. Detective Weikert called for assistance as he headed into the woods after the suspect.

For the next two and a half hours in a snow storm, Detective Weikert pursued the suspect.  The foot chase traveled northeast around the Fairfield Schools and through the woods and fields east of Fairfield. The chase continued to the Fairfield Quarry and then back into town.  The additional police units were able to converge on the front of the chase at 4350 Fairfield Road. Tracks lead to an upstairs apartment, where police forced entry and found the suspect trying to dispose of his wet clothes. He was taken into custody without further incident. The police were able to identify the second subject and he was apprehended that morning hiding nearby. Police identified 21 vehicles the suspects had tried to enter that morning.

Detective Clifford J. Weikert was awarded a Class I Commendation for his quick response to the scene and his tireless two and half hour pursuit in a snow storm that resulted in the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of more than $2,000 in stolen property taken from numerous homes in J and K sections and in Fairfield Borough over a 10 day period. The distinctive accomplishment of Detective Clifford J. Weikert reflects great credit upon himself, the Carroll Valley Police Department, and the Borough of Carroll Valley.  Well Done!

Welcome to Carroll Valley

Welcome to the Borough of Carroll Valley. One of my primary duties as mayor is the supervision of the Police Department.  This is probably one of the most important departments in our Borough because its primary function is protecting the lives of our residents. Also as mayor, I have the opportunity and pleasure to formally recognize individuals for the outstanding work they have performed that has made Carroll Valley a vibrant community for residents and visitors alike. I try as much as possible to involve myself in borough activities through my membership on the July 4th Planning Group, Planning Commission, Fairfield Regional Emergency Management Agency, Finance Committee and the Public Safety Committee.

How do I communicate with our residents? Each month I provide a “Mayor’s Report” to council.  These council meetings are video taped and can be seen on this website.  I also have a column in the Emmitsburg Journal called “From the Desk of Mayor Ron”. On an informal basis, you will probably see me shaking hands, taking pictures and giving my opinion of why the Steelers didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year… as if I really knew what I was talking about.

If I can be of any help to you, please contact me at mayor@carrollvalley.org or call me at the office at (717) 642-8269 Ext 32. I am here to serve you.
