Carroll Valley Borough

Garbage Collection in the Borough

New Trash Hauler for 2010

Parks Garbage Service, Inc. is awarded bid to serve most of western Adams County

The Borough of Carroll Valley, in coordination with the surrounding communities of Fairfield Borough, Hamiltonban Township, Liberty Township, Freedom Township, and Highland Township, have solicited for bids for trash hauler services and are pleased to announce that Parks Garbage Service, Inc. has been selected to serve our region. Parks low cost, coupled with their reputation for customer service helped make the decision an easy one. Parks is family owned and operated, and has been in business for 50 years. The award of the contract will serve the Borough for the years of 2010-2012.

Through this bidding process the Borough was able to secure one low rate for all residents, which is locked in for the entire three- (3) years. The rate for all residential customers will be $46.38 per quarter, whether the resident chooses to recycle or not. If you are a current recycling customer, this price actually represents a drop in price. For non-recycling residents, this will increase the quarterly price just over $4.00 per quarter. The Borough encourages all residents to participate in non-mandatory recycling, as there is no difference in your cost, and Parks will even supply recycle bins free of charge!

As of January 1, 2010, Parks Garbage Service, Inc. is the only permitted trash hauler within the borough for residential customers. Within the coming weeks you will receive a mailer from Parks Garbage, with detailed instructions on what you need to do to make the transition from IESI to Parks. Included in this mailer will be a calendar for 2010, indicating the collection pickup days for trash and recycling. When you receive this mailing, please do not discard. Please review and act accordingly. As of January 1, 2010, IESI is no longer permitted to collect residential trash. Act now so you have no interruption of service!
