The Borough of Carroll Valley has been enforcing Building Codes since the creation of the Borough. In May 2004 the Borough opted in
and began to enforce the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.

- Projects
that require a building permit:

Any improvement that will construct, enlarge, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a residential
building or erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace an electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system regulated
by the Uniform Construction Code.

Fences over 6' in height.

Sidewalks and driveways that are over 30 inches above adjacent grade and placed over a basement or have
a story below it.

Installation of an uncovered deck where the floor of the deck is more than 30 inches above grade.

Cutting away a wall, partition or portion of a wall.

The removal or cutting of any structural beam or load-bearing support.

The removal or change of any required means of egress, or rearrangement of parts of a structure affecting
the egress requirements.

The addition to, alteration of, replacement or relocation of any standpipe, water supply, sewer, drainage,
drain leader, gas, soil, waste, vent or similar piping, electric wiring or mechanical.

Fences (any height)
Driveways
Installation of a deck
Accessory buildings less than 288 square feet
Home occupation or any other accessory use
